A NIGHT AT KATHY & LEE’S! WOODLAND PARK, CO 10/26/08

We were invited to crash at Kathy and Lee’s place in Woodland Park on our way to south to hit Colorado Springs. They were so kind and supportive to us. Their friend Ellen made us the best carrot cake! We dove into that after Kathy’s amazing full on home cooked meal. I don’t have to tell you how great that was after almost 2 weeks of fighting to find real food on the road and eating cheese sticks for snacks. We pulled out the projector and did a little show in their driveway on their garage, it was the sweetest show yet. There we were, a couple generations of people connecting over ideas and shared visions for where we can take this country, we’d never met before and yet it felt like we’d all known each other for years. They made us feel so at home. Kathy even made us breakfast the next morning and we all hung out talking till noon. We’ll be staying in touch with these guys for sure! Thanks for all the great talks and support. Viva Obama!

  1. Lee and Kathy and Ellen are the world’s greatest people–and it’s wonderful to know that other great folks got to sample their hospitality, cuisine and friendship! Who WOULDN’T want to stay at the Hotel Willoughby?!

All to best to Jarred and Lisa and your excellent work.

  2. More superlatives–just fill them in. Quite an incredible night, and I’m so glad you liked the slumpy carrot cake. Come back and I’ll bake another for you. I feel Obama will win this election. I feel that deeply. Even so, a trickle of fear runs through me. Should the worst occur, his campaign will still be notable for all the reasons your tour captures. No hate in ‘08 has to be true no matter what. Obviously since our conversation, I’ve be dealing with “what if. . . ” AND I’ve been dealing reveling in the connections the campaign for hope has made. Nothing can change that sense that we can make a difference–but it will be so much better with a Victory!
Thanks for stopping in Teller County. See you soon? Ellen
